FAQ
Portrait Sessions
• What type of lighting do you use?
I use both natural and studio lighting. In studio I tend to light using flash and at times LED lighting. I love all the variations artificial can bring. On location I rely mostly on natural light and at times supplement with a little flash.
• Do you do consultations before the shoot?
Some clients know exactly what they want but others not so much. If you have anything specific in mind it's best to communicate it before the shoot in writing. Otherwise when you arrive for the shoot we will discuss what your goals are and work together to achieve them. Also depending on the session type there will be a description of what to expect.
• Cancellation Policy
Bookings are paid at the time of scheduling. Payments are fully refundable as long as you cancel 24 hours prior to the scheduled shoot date. Same day cancellations are 50% refundable.
• What should I bring with me to the shoot?
You should bring anything relating to hair and makeup and also grooming (for men). This is important as most clients arrive ready to go with minor touchups before we shoot. Also there have been times when male clients will bring a shaving kit as they would like one look with a little scruff and another clean shaven. Powder to minimize shine and concealer to cover spots and blemishes are also a good idea as well as hair products.
I can't stress how important it is to have yourself in complete order before you come. Retouching can work wonders but it has its limits. Remember this is your shoot, you need to look your best. There is a chance your hands will be in the pictures so make sure your fingernails are in great shape. Also if you plan on eating before you come make sure you bring a toothbrush and toothpaste with you just incase.
Depending on how many looks (wardrobe changes) you are planning to do, it's best to work out ahead of time what you are wearing. Wearing appropriate attire for the look you are going for is key. Make sure your clothes are clean and free of wrinkles. I would stay away from clothes that are too busy or have graphics as these tend to take away from you. If you're not sure what to bring I would err on bringing more than you think. I would also avoid sleeveless clothes.
You want to look comfortable, I would tend to stick with styles that you like and are used to. There is always room to experiment. It's always helpful to bring accessories like scarves, hats and glasses. Layers work great but you don't want what you're wearing to take away from you. Clothes that are too baggy can also have a negative effect whereas your body may have the illusion of being bigger than it is. Even though we are doing portraits you should take into consideration the appropriate pant or skirts to have a complete outfit.
• Policy on reshoots?
I will be shooting to a computer or showing you what we are doing on the camera display so you can see exactly how you look and we can make changes on the spot to your satisfaction. That is why it is vital as I stated above to be totally prepared with your hair, makeup, general appearance and wardrobe prior to arrival.
The only instance I will do a reshoot at no cost is if for some reason the photos are lost, damaged or some kind of technical error occurred where they are deemed unusable. Otherwise reshoots are done at full rate.
• What will I receive at the end of the shoot?
Within 3-5 business days you will receive a link with a gallery of images from the shoot. The images will be in a raw state meaning they will not be retouched, cropped or at times not fully corrected in color and exposure. Because of this they will be medium resolution and watermarked as to prevent them from being posted on social media. You will be able to make your selections within the gallery and once your have made your pics there is an option to share them with me.
After 3-5 business days of receiving your selects I will send you another Dropbox link with your retouched images. If you have any notes regarding the retouching you will get a one time no charge update.
